ABout L. Kasimu
L. Kasimu Harris is a New Orleans-based artist whose practice deposits a number of different strategic and conceptual devices in order to push narratives. He strives to tell stories of underrepresented communities in New Orleans and beyond.
In 2020, his images and essay, A Shot Before Last Call: Capturing New Orleans’s Vanishing Black Bars was published in The New York Times.
He received Artist-in-Residencies from the Center for Photography at Woodstock and the Joan Mitchell Center.

Personally, it's Dawoud Bey for his body of work and his role as a mentor and educator.
Favorite Lens:
I would say the 50mm, because of the size, it's versatility and image quality.
In your opinion, what is the most/least diverse field of photography?:
I'm guessing here, but street photography and sports is the least diverse.
What do you consider the biggest hurdle for Black photographers today?
Access to editor and curator, and it can be a cost barrier to enter into portfolio reviews.
