Where are you based?: Portland, OR
Camera Brand: Fuji
Most Influential Photographer:
Gordon Parks is my biggest influence from the past. His work is what I strive to live up to. Today I'm into Tyler Mitchell. His ability to capture interesting angles and authentic emotion is something I'm trying to emulate.
Favorite Lens:
My favorite lens is a Zeiss Touit 32mm 1.8. It's a great lens, feels good in the hand, is resilient, and performs well in low light. It allows me to use a cheaper camera and still produce world-class images.
What do you consider the biggest hurdle for Black photographers today?
Access to opportunities. I see stories about Black folks in my subject matter all the time that were shot by white people. I think commercial and media outlets need to do a better job of finding Black photographers to tell Black stories.
