About Naeem

Naeem Douglas is an Emmy-nominated journalist based in New York City. Naeem wrote, shot, edited, and reported his daily stories as a television reporter. Behind the scenes, he also wrote for CBS Network Radio and produced for CBS’s streaming service CBSN. His reporting has been seen on PBS, CNN, CBS, NY1, NBC, and many more.

After more than fifteen years in the news business, Naeem pivoted by telling stories from behind the camera. In 2020, Naeem documented the “gentrified flight” from New York City during the early parts of the pandemic in his soon-to-be-published first book, “We Stayed.” The book combines photographs, the stories behind the pictures, and poems by the talented Brandon Benton. Naeem also documented the year of unrest during NYC’s Freedom Summer 2020. His photojournalism work has appeared in AphroChic Magazine and is part of the Center for Brooklyn History’s (a branch of The Brooklyn Public Library) collection.

In 2021 Naeem joined the visual artist collective Souls in Focus, as its General Manager. The collective helps build spaces to inspire, educate and connect the community through varying visual media forms.

His editorial work has been featured in This Time Tomorrow, No Chaser Magazine, BLK Creatives, AphroChic Magazine and others.
