About Redeat

Redeat Wondemu is an Eritrean-born, Ethiopian-American photographer. Her photography journey started in college while studying darkroom film photography. She focuses on taking portraits using medium format film cameras and printing her own work in the darkroom. Her series that culminated in her solo gallery represented show is called Modern Muse Series.

She graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and pursued her nursing career side-by-side with photography training. Her pursuit as a humanitarian allowed her to teach a photography workshop in Chicago to children in 2010 and 2011 followed by a gallery. In 2020, her Working Class Series photography and writing was published in The Washington Post.
